Nehru Zoological
park

The Nehru Zoo is a big
sanctuary and is a hit among kids and elders alike. It is
located at a distance of 16 km from Hyderabad and comes
under the Bahadupur region. The Park homes both African as
well as Indian Lions. Set your adrenalin rushing by watching
the Big Cats feasting on freshly hunted prey at a distance
of a few feet from you! Apart from these animals, there are
some rare species of birds and reptiles also.

The zoological park is opened
everyday from nine to five and getting there is not a
problem at all. The park is spread amidst 1.2 acres of land
which is beautifully decorated and houses more than 3000
species of animals. For wildlife lovers, Nehru Zoological
Park is the best place to explore the rich flora and fauna
in its natural habitat. It is a treat for the visitors to
visit the only safari park for Indian Lions in Asia, with
almost natural forest setting. The Tigers both white and
normal have their own forest glades. |

Natural History Museum, which
exhibits old artifacts and dummies of extinct animals, is
another attraction at the park. In the periphery, there is a
Nocturnal Birds Park also, housing atypical and exotic
species of nocturnal birds and animals including owls and
lemurs. It is spread across 300 acres of lush green land
which is one biggest zoo in the country. In this zoo, there
are about 1,500 different kinds of animals are present.
Other attraction in the park is that a lion safari park is
located in the park. |

The zoo also has Elephants,
Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Zebras, American Bison, Antelopes,
Black Buck, Chousingha, Chinkara, Deer, Sambar, Brow Antler
Deer etc. The best part of this park is that animals bred
here are supplied to other sanctuaries and national parks to
speed up the process of conservation. |
