Sri Veeranarayana Temple The temple built in Chalukyan Style appears, that it was originally a Jain temple converted into a Vaishnava shrine. Located between Hyderabad and Warangal, Kolanupaka is famous for the 2000 year old Jain Mahavir Mandir, with its 1.5 meters high image of Mahavira. It is claimed that this was an ancient Jain temple later converted to a Hindu temple. The shrine encloses Shri Veeranarayana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu as the main deity. The temple architecture is superb and it resembles the Chalukya style of architecture. This is an important Vaishnava temple in Warangal. Besides the Jain temple. The intricate carvings on the walls of the temple are amazing and worth seeing. The temple itself is located in a serene environment. The appearance of the temple indicates that it was originally a Jain temple converted into a Vaishnava shrine. Based on the architectural details it is considered that it was a Jain temple initially, which was later modified into a Vaishnava place of worship. |
