Mir Alam Tank

The Mir Alam Tank Hyderabad is just16 km away from the airport, so you can enjoy the air connectivity to and from the city. Quite a contrast indeed, for the much-neglected historically important tank has now virtually turned into a cesspool full of domestic sewage and industrial waste endangering the flora and fauna of the zoo. The unique feature of this Tank is that it has 21 in-built small masonry dams, semi-circular in shape.

There are different types of local transport that you can help yourself for reaching the place the safely. The construction of this tank is really worth appreciating. It is a wonderful paradigm of engineering, comprising of one-mile bund with 21 semi-circular arches put up on it, thus giving the whole scene a majestic look.

 

The Tank is named after the erstwhile prime minister of Hyderabad who reigned in the period of 1804 - 1808. The tank houses some of the extraordinaire features; the sporting of the twenty one in built small masonry dams all semi circular in form. The Mir Alam Tank in Hyderabad was completed on 8 June 1806. The speed boats available here are mostly hired for film shootings, The tranquil surroundings of Mir Alam Tank will bewitch you by its ethereal beauty.
