St. Mary's Church

The church is surrounded by many old fashioned huts and an old hotel suitable for staying to view snow falling on the surroundings. This beautiful church is built on a hillock in the eastern side of the town attracting people from all faiths and religions from the whole country. It is to be found on the eastern side of the town on a hillock. 'Our Lady of Lourdes' is an annual event observed at the church that is attended by hundreds of people.

The construction of the church dates back to 150 years and was done by famous British architectures in the construction style of British churches. According to popular legend, in 1925, Rev. Arlati, the then Rector of St. Josephs Orphanage, Gundala installed a statue of Our Lady. Later a church was built and consecrated in 1971. This church is today known to us as the St Mary's Church and popularly known as the Gundala Matha Shrine.

The church also has an adjacent cemetery carrying the historical symbols of a bygone time. Gorton Mission School started in 1843 is located nearby. A temple, a mosque and a Gurudwara are placed nearby to the church. This old-fashioned wooden Church with glittering stained glass windows today marks the existence of the Anglican Church in Kotgarh. Built in s very simple neo- classical style of architecture, this wooden structure holds the attraction of visitors.
