Kolanupaka, 80-km from Hyderabad, is situated between Hyderabad and Warangal. Literary evidences reveal 'Kolanupaka' as the birthplace of 'Renukacharya' the great 'Vira Saiva' saint, believed to be born from the 'Svayambaghu Linga' at this village and absorbed into it after preaching Vira Saivism. This was the second capital town of Kalyani Chalukyas during the 11th century AD. During this period the village was a religious centre of Jains, and ranks among other great Jain centers in the south

The State Archaeological Department runs a museum in the Someswara temple complex with a wide range of exhibits relating to temple architecture. It was the 11th century capital of Kalyani Chulukyas and the birthplace of Renukacharya, a great Veera Shaiva Saint. A five feet jade idol of Lord Mahavira is an added attraction.

Located between Hyderabad and Warangal, Kolanupaka is famous for the 2000 year old Jain Mahavir Mandir, with its 1.5 meters high image of Mahavira. The Jain temple is architecturally brilliant and endowed with beautifully carved statues of Tirthankaras.
