The Bhavani Island is easily accessible from the corners of the city of Vijayawada. Bhavani Island is a unique aquatic joint blessed by the placid waters and rows of shady bowers. Located upstream the river Krishna, close to Prakasam Barrage, is Bhavani Island. Make sure to visit this picturesque island that is a fantastic picnic spot for holiday-lovers. The Bhavani Island development project has been hanging fire for over a decade and a half now after the then chief minister NTR laid the foundation stone for the project on Nov.29, 1996. A 15 crore investment on its developmental plans are already in progress making it more attractive to the visitors. The beautiful island stretches itself in the Krishna River, 4 km upstream from the city of Vijayawada. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has elaborate plans to develop the Bhavani island, all the more, because it already attract thousands of visitors to this picturesque spot.

The Island is good for some water adventure and fun water sports. One of the largest islands on the river, Bhavani Island extends more than 130 acres and located near to the to Prakasam Barrage.
