Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary or Eturnagaram forest wildlife refuge is located nearby Warangal town and is one of the grand old sanctuaries in India. The area is mostly plain with some hilly terrain at altitude ranging from 200-450 metres with many streams and springs. It has teak and other trees of good quality standing 60 feet and above. Located about 100 km from Warangal and 250 km from Hyderabad, it was declared a sanctuary in 1952. The area is full of steep and gentle slopes.

The ideal time to visit the Eturnagaram Sanctuary is between October and April as during this time of the year the weather is pleasant and the animals are seen in their natural habitat easily. To see wildlife in its natural habitat, visit to this forest wildlife sanctuary is a must. Many numbers of tourists are attracted to this sanctuary and the number is growing day by day.

This large sanctuary covers 812 sq. km. of dry deciduous mixed forests. The vegetation here is tropical dry deciduous with teak and other trees of good quality standing 60ft and above. Some endangered species of the region are black buck, nilgai, four horned antelope, chinkara, spotted deer, sambar and giant squirrels. Nearest railway station is at Warangal and is well connected by State bus. The best season to visit the sanctuary is from Oct- May.

The sanctuary is located near the Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra border. It is one of the oldest sanctuaries of Andhra Pradesh. It has dry deciduous mixed teak forest with bamboo and other species on rolling country with low hills. A part of the region is covered with hills. The sanctuary has a thick cover of tropical, dry and deciduous type of vegetation. You will find that the sanctuary abounds with teak, bamboo and other trees like madhuca and terminalia. The perennial river Dayyam Vagu waters the sanctuary.
