Durgam Cheruvu Lake

The Durgam Cheruvu lake is
spread over an area of 63 acre and is surrounded by hills of
the Deccan Plateau.This secret lake is now a haven for
visitors with boating facilities, quietitude and fishing
activity with a Restaurant. This lake once served as a
drinking water source to the Golconda Fort. Pedal boating,
camping, and trekking facilities are available. A cafeteria
as well as a refreshment center are located on its banks.
Today it is one of the seven wonders of Hyderabad. Boating
and water sports are a regular feature in the Hussainsagar.

The lake was originally
excavated by Hussain Shah Wali during the time of Ibrahim
Quli Qutb Shah in 1562 A.D. Durgam Cheruvu Lake
attracts several tourists from round the world that provide
opportunities for pedal boating, camping and trekking. A
cafeteria and refreshment center is opened close to the
banks of the Durgam Cheruvu Lake. Boats are even rented for
film shooting, with 4-seated pedal boat carrying a price
range of about Rs. 2500.00 per day while a water scooter
might cost you somewhere around Rs.3000.00 per day. |

The Deccan region remains
parched rest of the 365 days in the year. The rainfall is
stored and utilized for economic needs when and where
required. The ‘Secret Lake’ is situated close to Shilparamam
Crafts Village and Hitec City, behind Jubilee Hills. AP
Tourism organizes boating in the lake. The shields of
granite rocks around here are said to be only one of its
kind in entire Asia that date back to more than 2,500
million years and attract nature and rock lovers from all
over. The Lake has been developed as a major tourist
attraction in the Hyderabad city by the AP Tourism
