Appikonda

Appikonda About 18km from Visakhapatnam, the place has given a religious significance because of the existence of a Siva temple. The major attraction of the temple is a life size bull carved out of black stone. The major attraction of the temple is a life size bull that has been carved out of black stone. There are inscriptions in the temple dating back to 12th century.  History speaks that it is at this village that Kapila Maha Muni has installed the idol of Somalingeswara Swamy and thus the name - Kapilakonda which was over the ages changed to Apillakonda and further to Appikonda.
 

There was a life-size bull at the temple that was carved out of Black Stone A small fishing centre till a few years back, the metamorphosis of Vizag into a tourism and industrial hub has surprised and pleased tourists. Situated 18 kilometers from Visakhapatnam, Appikonda has a popular Shiva temple.
